Mod Installation

To install the *.Big version of the mod: (Recommended Method)

1 > Install Homeworld2.

2 > Patch Homeworld2 up to version 1.1 (use the in-game menu or find the patch somewhere).

3 > Download the no-cd crack from one of the below links and put it in "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release" (make sure to backup the original file first).

4 > If you haven't already done so, download the latest version of the mod and put the *.Big file in "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Data".

5 > Finally, make a copy of the Homeworld2 shortcut on your desktop (or wherever it's located) and right-click it, select "Properties", then add the following text at the end of the "Target" field (where it says "C:\...\...\Homeworld2\bin\release\homeworld2.exe"): -mod Sgmod075a.big

If there are quotes in the "Target" field, make sure that the above command is added AFTER the last quote, and there must be a space between the quote and the hyphen.

To play the mod, simply double-click the modified shortcut and the mod should start.

To install the archived version of the mod (not *.Big): (For Advanced Users)

1 > Install Homeworld2

2 > Patch Homeworld2 up to version 1.1 (use the in-game menu or find the patch somewhere).

3 > Open the *.rar or *.zip archive that you downloaded (using PowerArchiver, WinRar, Winzip or the default Windows Extractor).

4 > Extract all files contained within the archive to your "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Data" folder, and make sure that the extraction software you use preserves the correct pathnames (i.e. all files will go to \ai\, \art\, \scripts\, etc. instead of being dumped directly into \Data\).

5 > Download the no-cd crack from one of the below links and put it in "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release" (make sure to backup the original file first).

Notes:

To play online with other players, you will need the VPN software called Hamachi. Once you've downloaded and installed it, head over to this forum post from the French forums and pick a network to join. You will need to be on the same network as another person to play with that person. Once you're on the same network, use the LAN multiplayer option in Homeworld2 to play together.

Well, i got problems with point 5.

the instruction says that i shall add "mod Sgmod075a.big" at the end of the targetline

but there is no "mod Sgmod075a.big" file at this path i dont unterstand this

pls help (maybe in german someone)

What you have to do is right-click and select properties, and once in there, YOU add (manually) "-mod SGmod075a.big" (without the quotes) to the text INSIDE the "Target" field, so that instead of saying

"C:\Program Files\Relic\Homeworld2\bin\release\homeworld2.exe"

it says

"C:\Program Files\Relic\Homeworld2\bin\release\homeworld2.exe" -mod Sgmod075a.big

Well, i have installed it as your guide says but it dont work fine in with my game...
still:
1. NPC do nothing (dont attack, dont build ships etc)
2. My jumpers docks with RU and they dont leade atlantis (same in all races)

I have no idea where is the problem, maybe i need english version of game?

No, those are known bugs that will be fixed with the next release of the mod. They work in some specific cases for some people, but we'll fix them. This isn't an installation problem, it's a problem on our side.

i finally did modifyes the icon but the mod still don´t starts.......

with a little help of my friend i found out zhat
this: -mod Sgmod075a.big

is wrong the file is named Sgmod.big

so it have to look like this:

-mod Sgmod.big

Well, of course if you're not using the 0.75a version, that would be the wrong filename '-.-

umm there was no -mod Sgmod075a.big file included in that .rar file just a buncha folders and i dont get point #4? can someone plz explain when i extract the files and attach the new target name -mod Sgmod075a.big it goes back to regular homeworld, and is this in english?

maybe you have downloaded an older/other version of the mod. But you can install the mod in folders, too. Just drop them in your Homeworld2\Data\ Directory and add instead of "-mod Sgmod075a.big" as commandlineparameter the following without the quotes: "-overrideBigFile"
There's a how-to for mods in folders, too. Just search it but my explanation should help you for now.

We were both blind... just look above: There are two headlines. One with the description "(*.big file)" and the other one with the description "(not *.big file)" (or sth. like that). Just look there for a good explanation
